It’s the end of the world as we know it…

And I feel fine.

How about those Red Sox? I don’t know whether to wave the white flag or sit and root them on. As a fan, I want to be optimistic but I am not sure that they can pull it out. They have a decent chance on winning Saturday’s ALCS game against the Indians with Curt Schilling pitching but I have little to no faith for game 7. Do we really want to see Mastuzaka out there again? I for one don’t. And how about 6-9 in the line-up? Can someone say “needs batting practice”? Coco fouled off two bunts last night and then struck out on a pitch way off the table. Julio Lugo couldn’t hit the ball if it was on a T right now. It was good to see Dustin Pedroia, J.D. Drew and Jason Veritek actually hit yesterday, though it seemed like C.C. Sabathia was again trying too hard.

Like I said, I have complete faith in Curt for Saturday’s game. Its back in Fenway Park with a hard fought win preceding it. I just don’t know if they can pull off three in a row. I may not have been around long enough to see some of the Red Sox most terrible collapses but considering my second season as a fan was probably ‘86 (though I doubt I remember any of it), I still have that good old New England pessimisms.

And after complaint after complaint, I am going to do what a type Red Sox fan will do. I will bitch and moan and watch the game and live or die by the Red Sox. Oh, one more thing. Even though Manny Ramirez is completely oblivious to anything in real life. He is still a god in the baseball world. There is no one I would trade him for. Not Slappy McPurplelips or Vlad the Self-Impaler.  So I am just going to sit and bitch… and root for my Sox.
